Enjoying the seasons of your life.

As we enter into this season where trees are adorned with lights, houses are decorated with stockings and gifts, and people are rushing about to get that perfect gift for their loved ones, we must stop to acknowledge the beauty and splendor our Lord gives us each day and with every season.

Every season has a reason and a fulfillment.

Spring brings new life to the earth.  After the dark days of winter, light displays through the clouds and brings the hope of sunny day.  Animals are having babies.  Light displays itself in beautiful, wonderful ways on luscious green grass and brightly colored flowers. People begin to make room for the new and the green flourishes.  The air smells fresh and new.

Then summer comes around with hot temperatures, beaches and swimming, summer vacation, and fun in the sun.  Lemonade and watermelon quench our thirst and hunger. We have our license to be carefree and take some time off to spend with our family.  Noise and happiness seems to be all around us.  We enjoy the lake and cookouts under the sun.

Fall brings beautiful colorful leaves and relief from the sweltering heat and mosquitos. Kids rake the yard just so they can jump into the pile of leaves.  We see the trees changing colors to orange and red.  It’s time to go to the  pumpkin patch and pick out our pumpkin.  We eat our favorite foods.  Everyone loves a tasty pumpkin pie.   The holidays are just around the corner.

Then winter brings about blistery coldness and beautiful snowy days.  Nothing is as exciting as the first snowfall and making a snow man, looking out the window on a dark night and seeing the beauty of snow falling on the rooftops, and relaxing on the couch with a loved one in front of the fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate.  Instead of the trees showing us their beauty,  it’s our turn to decorate the trees with beautiful lights.  The holidays bring families together with a warm welcome and a peaceful time with good memories to be written.

With the earth’s beauty and splendor, we must not ignore the words of the Almighty God.   Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 says:

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.” Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

It’s good to know what is ahead of us. Knowing will help us prepare for what is coming next.  You must expect all of the changes of the seasons to take place in your life. No one is excluded.  There will be times you will be sad, times we will be joyful, times you will experience loss, and times you will gain what your heart desires most.

The most important thing to know is that God will see you through all of the seasons of your life.  He wants you to enjoy every season no matter how difficult or easy the season is. Remember, God promises to never leave or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:8, 1 Samuel 12:22, Hebrews 13:5).  God is able to do exactly what He promises for you.  So enjoy this season of your life to the fullest and wait expectantly for the next season.
