Society has given us many ideas about what is going to happen to this world. To some extent, these ideas have given many a false sense of security.  Other people see the gloom and doom of this world and fear what is occurring.  Just like a tornado can bring panic and destruction, not knowing what is going to happen can bring these same feelings to your life.  For answers, we need to go to the source to understand what is going on and what to expect next.

The Bible tells us exactly what we need to know.  We must remember that we don’t control time; God does.  The Bible is full of passages (see Daniel, Ezekiel, and Matthew) that tells us where we are today and what we can expect to happen next.  We are living in perilous times and it will get worse.  For those not willing to follow God and to learn what the Bible teaches, the results could be deadly.  The book of Revelation outlines an upcoming tribulation and judgment like nothing we have ever seen.  For those of us who study the scriptures, we will have a true sense of understanding and peace through it all.

There is a footprint that the Bible teaches.  The world has been moving through different periods of time declared in God’s word.  Ephesians 1:9-10 explains that God has a plan from the beginning to the end. They are called dispensations or periods of time.  After God created the heaven and the earth, He put man in charge.  Man had a choice to obey or disobey.  God put man in a perfect condition where God would speak to man daily and guide him.  But man failed and has always made a choice to disobey even today.

Time has been divided into categories:

1. Innocence- unsure how long:  Genesis 1:28-31
2. Conscience- lasted 1656 years:  Genesis 3:22-7:33
3. Civil Government- lasted 429 years:  Genesis 8:20-11:9
4. Promise- lasted 430 years:  Genesis 11:9– Exodus 19
5. Law/Israel- lasted 1524 years: Exodus 20–Malachi 4
6. Grace/Church- 1970 plus years, our current age
7. Millennial Kingdom- will last 1000 years
8. New Heaven and New Earth

Between the grace/church age and the millennial kingdom, there is a gap.  This gap is called the Great Tribulation.  Many scholars strongly believe that the signs are upon us and those signs are setting the stage for the Tribulation.    Some of the most important signs are:

1. Israel’s reinstatement in 1948- Ezekiel 37
2. Rise of Russia- Ezekiel 38-39
3. Economic Distress- James 5:1-6
4. Increase in Travel and Knowledge- Daniel 12:4
5. Abandonment of Religious Beliefs- 2 Timothy 4:1-4, 2 Timothy 3:1-5
6. Occultism- 2 Timothy 4:3-4
7. Moral Breakdown- 2 Peter 3:1-12
8. One-World Church- Revelation 17
9. One-World Government- Daniel 2

So where does this leave us?  If you have already accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then we are anxiously awaiting the rapture of the church and His return to the earth. If you have not accepted Jesus, you will be going through the Great Tribulation.  We will learn about the rapture tomorrow and the Great Tribulation on Friday.  I urge you to come back to learn more.
