Yesterday we finished with the seventh seal which introduces the Trumpet Judgments. Because of the severity of the Trumpet Judgments, true judgments from God, there is silence in Heaven for half an hour.
The Trumpet Judgments are all carried out by specially assigned Angels. These are truly supernatural events that can point to no one other than God Himself. The judgments are from Heaven to the earth’s atmosphere. Many of these judgments have similarities to the 10 plagues of Egypt (Exodus 7-11).
The first Trumpet Judgment is described in Revelation 8:7: The first angel blew his trumpet, and there followed hail and fire, mixed with blood, and these were thrown upon the earth. And a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up. The first Trumpet Judgment will be devastating to the earth. No grass will reman and a third of the trees will no longer stand. This judgment has similarities to Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18:16-19:28) and the sixth plague of Egypt (Exodus 9:22-26).
The second Trumpet Judgment is described in Revelation 8:8-9: The second angel blew his trumpet, and something like a great mountain, burning with fire, was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood. A third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. The second Trumpet Judgment will devastate the seas turning them to blood and killing sea creatures. This judgment is similar to the first plague in Egypt (Exodus 7:16-21).
The third Trumpet Judgment is described in Revelation 8:10-11: The third angel blew his trumpet, and a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many people died from the water, because it had been made bitter. The waterways that were not harmed in the second Trumpet Judgment are now affected in this judgment. A giant star named Wormwood will make the water bitter and people will die because they don’t have clean water to drink.
While these judgments are occurring, the Antichrist is still trying to convince people that there is no God. He has a scientific reason for every occurrence and convinces many people that these are just natural occurrences.
