Yesterday we covered the death and resurrection of the Antichrist and his False Prophet. We now know that Antichrist isn’t the same man he was before; he is Satan incarnate.

For the next 42 months, the False Prophet is able to do miracles and speak blasphemies against God.  He is also allowed to persecute Christians.   Revelation 13:7:   Also it [False Prophet] was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them.  This is terrible news for the Tribulation Saints.  Persecution of the church will be at one of the highest levels in history.

How will the False Prophet know who is a Christian and who isn’t? The Mark of the Beast. Revelation 13:16-17:  Also it [False Prophet] causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.

The Mark of the Beast, the numbers 666, will be the final choice that mankind has to choose God.  Once this mark is taken, you cannot take it back.  Your eternal fate is determined. Revelation 14:9-10:  If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a
mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he also will drink the wine of God’s wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.

We have to keep in mind that Satan wants to be God.  He wants more people to worship him and to follow him than God.  The Mark of the Beast allows people to pledge their allegiance to Satan. Since Satan is now on earth as the Antichrist, the False Prophet will require EVERYONE to bow down and worship him.

Of course Christians will bow to no one other than God or Jesus so this presents a huge problem for followers of Christ.  They must go in to hiding or face the guillotine; Christians and anyone who will not take the mark will be beheaded.  Revelation 14:13:  And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!”

The next set of judgments follow the Mark of the Beast. This set of judgments are called the Bowl Judgments. Compared to the other judgments, these are more intense and are God’s wrath on the earth and the people who chose not to follow him.

The first Bowl Judgment coincides with the Mark of the Beast.  Revelation  16:2:  So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and harmful and painful sores came upon the people who bore the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.  The people have eternally chosen not to follow God and God pours out his wrath on them.  Large painful sores appear on anyone who chooses to take the Mark of the Beast.

Tomorrow we will discuss the second through sixth Bowl Judgments.  These judgments will lead us right to the Battle of Armageddon.  Don’t miss the next chapter in this story.
