We’ve just reached the mid-point of the Tribulation and have now entered the Great Tribulation. People have started to take the Mark of the Beast and are suffering from the first Bowl Judgment, a plague of painful sores inflicted on those who have taken the mark.
The second Bowl Judgment is next. Revelation 16:3: The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became like the blood of a corpse, and every living thing died that was in the sea. Can you imagine the smell of bloody water and dead sea creatures? Every living thing in the sea that was left alive during the previous Trumpet Judgments will be killed. This judgment also causes the water to be undrinkable.
The third Bowl Judgment affects the remaining waterways: the rivers and the springs. This judgment turns the remaining water on the earth to blood. This judgment is to answer the martyrs’ prayers that their deaths be avenged. The angel of the waterways says in Revelation 16:5-6: “Just are you, O Holy One, who is and who was, for you brought these judgments. For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink.It is what they deserve!”
The fourth Bowl Judgment affects the sun. If you think an August day in Oklahoma is hot, just wait. Revelation 16:8-9: The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people with fire. They were scorched by the fierce heat. Flames from the sun will burn people and the heat will be so intense that people will not be able to go outside during day light hours. Instead of turning to God, the people curse Him and still do not repent.
After the scorching sun, people think their is relief in sight. The fifth Bowl Judgment brings total darkness on the “throne of the beast.” Revelation 16:10-11: The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in anguish and cursed the God of heaven for their pain and sores. This is not a normal darkness like what we experience. The darkness is painful and causes people to cry out in pain. Still the people experiencing these judgments do not repent but instead blaspheme God.
The sixth Bowl Judgment is poured out on the Euphrates River and is in preparation for the Battle of Armageddon. Revelation 16: 12: The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, to prepare the way for the kings from the east. Demonic spirits will rally troops from around the world and draw them to the Valley of Megiddo where the final battle will occur. God is drawing troops from all around the world to this very spot to end the Tribulation once and for all.
