We’ve been through the six Bowl Judgments and have one judgment left.  But before the final Bowl Judgment is unleashed on the earth, a mighty battle takes place on the earth all leading to the Glorious Appearing of Jesus Christ.

The Euphrates River was dried up in the sixth Bowl Judgment. Demonic spirits have been drawing all of the armies of the earth to the Valley of Megiddo.  This is a final battle with the intent of wiping the Jews off the face of the map forever. However, we know that God will never allow this to occur.  In essence, the Battle of Armageddon doesn’t end up as the Antichrist and the people living on earth expect it to be.  This is just a gathering for the return of Jesus.

The Battle of Armageddon will take place in stages.  All of these events will lead up to the grand finale with Jesus appearing to stop the slaughter of the Jews. The stages are:

1. The assembling of the Antichrist and his allies.  Revelation 16:14,16:  For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty. And they assembled them at the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.  Armies from around the world will assemble in the Valley of Megiddo for this expected showdown between Antichrist and Israel.
2. The destruction of Babylon.  Revelation 18:10:  They will stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say,“Alas! Alas! You great city, you mighty city, Babylon!  For in a single hour your judgment has come.” Antichrist moves to destroy a revived Babylon but quickly turns his forces to Jerusalem.
3. The fall of Jerusalem.  Micah 5:1:  Now muster your troops, O daughter of troops;

   siege is laid against us; with a rod they strike the judge of Israel on the cheek. Even though the Jews are God’s chosen people, Jerusalem will fall into the hands of the Antichrist. But God is ready to intervene on behalf of the Jews.

4.  The armies gather at Bozrah.  Jeremiah 49:14:  I have heard a message from the Lord, and an envoy has been sent among the nations: “Gather yourselves together and come against her, and rise up for battle!  The Antichrist and his allies will be feeling pretty good about themselves and ready to take the next step, but God has bigger plans.

The Battle of Armageddon isn’t over yet.  However, these events set us up for the final Bowl Judgment.  The seventh bowl judgment described in Revelation 16:17-18:  The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, “It is done!”  And there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a great earthquake such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake.

This great lightening and thunder show and massive earthquake are introducing the main event of Armageddon:  the Glorious Appearance of Jesus Christ.  The earthquake will split Jerusalem into three sections and set up the changes that will appear in the Millennial Kingdom of Jesus.  There will also be 100-pound hailstones from Heaven.  Even with this final judgment, people will not turn to God and will continue to blaspheme Him.
