The Glorious Appearance of Jesus

The Battle of Armageddon is in full swing and Antichrist and his allies think they are going to wipe the Jews out of existence. However, God has other plans.

The book of Revelation does not call Jesus’s return to earth the Glorious Appearance.  The book of Titus gives Jesus’ return this title.  Titus 2:13:  waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.  However, John’s description is the most vivid of them all:

Revelation 19:11-16:  Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.

Let’s breakdown exactly what is going to happen.  Heaven will open up and Jesus will appear to everyone on the earth.  Not one person will be able to miss Jesus’s triumphant return.  Jesus will be on a white horse dressed in white and ready to battle the Antichrist. He will be followed by the armies of heaven who also will be on white horses and dressed in white.  This army will include angels, the church that was raptured, and Tribulation saints.

What’s unique about this battle is that the Heavenly army will not fight.  Only Jesus will and He will do this using words. Specifically, He will use the word of God to fight the Antichrist and his allies. Men will be slain by the word of God and the truth behind it.  The blood of the men killed by the word of God will be the blood on Jesus’s robe.  Jesus will be invincible and no one will be able to come against Him.  Jesus’s eyes will burn with fire because He will judge according to the truth and the word of God.

Jesus will make His victory ascent up on the Mount of Olives (Zechariah 14:3-5).  Every person on earth will bow down to Jesus.  Unbelievers will mourn because they are not ready for Jesus to return (Matthew 24:30).  From here, the Antichrist will confront Jesus and Jesus will throw the Antichrist and the False Prophet into the Lake of Fire.  Satan will also be thrown and chained in a bottomless pit for 1000 years (Revelation 20:1-2).  After this Jesus will judge the nations and establish His kingdom.

Tomorrow we will discuss the interval between the tribulation and the Millennial Kingdom and what will happen during the Millennial Kingdom. Don’t miss the conclusion to this series.
