I want to give attention today to the word wisdom. Not just any kind of wisdom, but the wisdom that will bring results now, tomorrow and in the future. Every culture has adopted some way of life. This way of life was learned either from their family, jobs, or education. In many places, the culture we grow up in is where most people get their wisdom.
I grew up in a small town. I remember my town and the people as a hard working generation who grew agriculture and also built their own homes. Work was the place where all the food supply was found. I grew up with some kind of common sense. Did I always apply it? No. A good influence in my life was my mother and others with the same common sense of respect for who they were and what they did in their lives.
What is driving different types of people to do what they do? I believe that it is wisdom they adopted along the way. Some of this wisdom promotes good outcomes and others promote bad outcomes.
What we all need is wisdom from God. God’s wisdom is what the book of Proverbs is all about. Proverbs was given to us for the greater good. God wants His children to do good and to be someone with good character. This in essence is what the book of Proverbs offers. If we read it, accept it, and take that advice and apply it, we end up with lots of wisdom.
The definition of God’s wisdom is the skill of good living. The result of God’s wisdom will teach a person to live responsibly and productively and in a prosperous outcome.
