God has a plan for your life. It’s an amazing plan filled with great wonder and living to serve Him. The path may not always be smooth but you know your salvation is at the end of the path. All God asks of you is to believe that He sent His son Jesus to bear the burden of our sins and to accept His gift of salvation.
Satan also has a plan for your life. Sometimes it looks like a better plan than what God has in store for you. Riches, fame, parties, and whatever you want. All Satan asks of you is to turn away from God and follow him.
Satan’s plan is not a better plan. It’s a plan full of devastation, destruction, and ultimately death apart from your Savior.
The Bible talks explicitly about Satan and his plan:
- Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8
- You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44
- Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. Ephesians 6:11
- Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. Genesis 3:1
The Bible uses some pretty strong words to describe Satan:
- roaring lion
- seeking to devour
- murderer
- the father of lies
- schemer
- serpent
The one verse that we need to remember about Satan is 2 Corinthians 11:14: For even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Satan offers us what will entice us to follow him and turn away from God. He wraps our dreams in a ball of light and offers them to us. When we get what we want, we are still just as miserable as we were when we began.
Don’t fall for Satan’s plan. God loves you with an unending love. God wants to give you everything your heart desires, but we must choose to follow Him and not conform to this world– Satan’s world. Satan’s world may look like everything you ever wanted from a distance, but this is just a mirage. If you chose to follow Satan’s plan for your life, he will DESTROY your life.
Remember these parting words from Romans 12:2: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Don’t let Satan’s plan overrule the goodness God has in store for you.
