Activating the Mind of Christ.

We all depend on the basic necessities of life:  food, water, shelter, and electricity.

We are so fortunate to live in a country that you can turn on the faucet and water is available. We can go to the restroom and take care of our basic needs like showering. We go to our living room to relax and for family time. We can go to our kitchen and prepare food easily. We have electricity to power our homes and give us light.

We depend on these basic necessities. Think about the last time you were in a storm that knocked out the power in your home. Life became a lot more difficult without these basic necessities and we are dependent on them to live our lives comfortably.

Not only did God provide our natural necessities, He saw that we would need other necessities to make our lives more convenient and easier. But God also saw something that was more important than these necessities. God saw that we were going to need His very own life, His spirit, and His way of thinking.

God gave us some instructions for the spiritual side of our being. The Bible is very specific:

  • heart-2074726_1920.jpgRomans 12:2:  Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
  • John 6:35:  Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life;  whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”
  • Philippians 2:5: Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus. (To feel the mind of Christ, we need the mind of Christ.)
  • Romans 8:6:  For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. (Having the mind of Christ should be our goal.)

Without Jesus, our spirits were dead. We need Jesus to complete our spiritual life and we need to think like Jesus to feel our connection to God’s spirit.

The decisions that we make today are a demonstration of what we let our minds build on. You could call this your foundation. When we let the word of God guide our minds, it will produce life. The same kind of life that God has. The word of God will give life to the mind and to everything you do.

You can choose to think whatever you want to think. But remember, the mind under the control of the flesh will produce death. But the mind guided by the spirit and the word of God will produce life. It will be like a light that is active in your life. Choose to have the mind of Christ.
