We all go through situations that break our heart: the loss of a relationship that you thought was so promising, the loss of a parent who you loved and thought would be around forever, trying to have a baby and another month goes by without that positive test. It’s heartbreaking. You feel devastated. You feel like you don’t want to go on. You feel like you’ve heard everything wrong.
God knows how you feel. He’s holding you in His arms and wiping away your tears. Your heartbreak breaks His heart too. God is a loving Father and wants you to have the desires of your heart.
Sometimes we have to realize what we WANT may not be what God WANTS for us. I love the song “Thy Will be Done” by Hillary Scott. For those of you who haven’t heard the song, I’ve attached it below.
Listen to the words of that song. I know when my heart hurts, I turn to this song as a reminder of who God is. My favorite line in this song is “I may never understand that my broken heart is a part of your plan.”
God has a plan for your life. An amazing plan. He knows how everything plays out. That relationship that you thought was the one, it wasn’t. God has already picked out that special person for you; he or she will be here soon. The parent you lost, he’s with his Heavenly Father and you will see him again soon. Maybe you are supposed to build the relationship you have with the parent left behind. That negative test will be positive someday because God promised you a child; it just isn’t time yet.
I leave this for you. Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
When you don’t think there is a light at the end of the tunnel, lean on your Heavenly Father. God is there for you and wants you to know He hears your cries. Just trust Him and let His will lead your life.
