For years scientist have immersed themselves in new discoveries. Every day they discover new ways to enlarge our knowledge. From a science perspective, everything is made out of particles and elements. However, they all come to one conclusion: someone must have created this.
So far we have seen metal discoveries from bronze to aluminum to steel. Science has helped us understand how to use natural resources to make clothing and to build our homes and neighborhoods. They have determined how to make our lives easier by developing our daily basics discoveries like soap to wash our clothes and wash our bodies. Discoveries in vitamins, herbs, and medications heal our bodies. We can travel anywhere we need to go in an instant with automobiles, trains, and planes. Don’t forget your computer, cellphone, and other technology that we rely so heavily on to get us through our days. We need food, we go to the grocery store.
We live in a society like no other that has existed before. But remember that all of these discoveries must happen and are a sign that we are living in the end times. Many prophets predicted our times in the Bible. There has never been a society that fits the prophecies as closely as ours does.
In the Bible, 2 Timothy gives us a glimpse of what the last days will be like. 2 Timothy 3:2-4: For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous,
without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. Does this sound a little too familiar to you?
Even through all these discoveries, there is one voice that cries and wants to be heard. It is the only voice that sees our future: the voice of the Lord Jesus Christ. Even though man seeks after the things created, we must not forget our Master Teachers words in Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
During these perilous times, we must choose:
- Knowledge rather than gold. Proverbs 8:10
- A good name. Proverbs 8:19
- To seek souls to be saved. Luke 19:10
- To do the business of the King. 1 Timothy 1:17
- Save others and show mercy. Jude 1:23
The riches we should seek:
- His glory. Romans 1:23
- His wisdom and knowledge. Romans 11:33
- His grace. Ephesians 1:7
- His inheritance to the saints. Ephesians 1:18
- Of Christ. Ephesians 3:8
During these final days, how should we live our lives. Jesus gives us His opinion in Matthew 22:37: And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” During our lives, many of us will discover temporary riches that may help us in this life. But remember, we were not meant to be on this earth forever.
The Lord Jesus is coming soon. We must be ready. We must vigilant at all times and keep our hearts in check so nothing can distract us from the assignments we have been given. We must promote God’s kingdom on this earth and encourage others to pursue God first. We must make being a disciple of Christ a first priority.
