As we go through life, people will remember us for the things we did more than the things we said. Many of us have struggled since we were little with the word identity. We must understand that we all go through the same struggles; some of us experience bigger struggles than others because of the choices that we have made.
We are all trying to find our identity. So we live in this world trying to make sense of everything. We end up getting false information about our real identity, and the world doesn’t help us. It pushes us away and we begin to see ourselves in a way that we are not. We follow others because we are hurt.
If you are born again, your identity will always revolve around Christ. It is imperative that our identity stay in Jesus so we can keep learning who we are based on what God has done for us. We have been forgiven. We have been given a new way of life and a new way to travel through this world sharing the goodness of God every day. This is an opportunity to tap into your identity and to continue to build your testimony around God’s word, God’s power, and God’s Holy Spirit.
We can read about who we are in Christ in 2 Corinthians 5:17: This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! A new creation means a new breath and a new nature. You are someone who has not existed
before. What happened at the cross and the resurrection of Jesus seals our identity. We have a new spirit: the spirit of Christ in us.
Continue to build your testimony around who you truly are. Don’t be defined by what people say, what your mind says, or who this world says you are. You will not find peace except in Him. Make a goal to share your testimony every day with someone. Let them know that you are born again child of God.
I would recommend you to get two books who can help you determine who you are in Christ: “Taking your place in Christ” by Mark Hankins. also the book “Becoming the person you want to be” by James Richards. These books will enhance your identity as you discover what has already been given to you.
I myself am still continuing to grasp who I am in Christ. Help others to see the light as you read these books. Recommend them to your loved ones. They will change and transform your lives forever. As Jesus says, if you continue in my word you are truly my disciples (John 8:31-32).
