Being a disciple of Christ has its ups and downs. You must remember that when you received Jesus as Lord of your life, it was a decision based on facts and truths about what God says about you. Your decision wasn’t based on feelings and emotions.
This is where we sometimes misunderstand God. Even though God has feelings and emotions, He doesn’t base His decisions on how He feels; they are based on what God has said. When we understand this idea, God’s expressions of love become real and tangible to our hearts. God communicates to us through our heart. God said in Ezekiel 36 that He will take a heart of stone and give this heart His own spirit. This is the spirit of Christ and dependency on God.
When you received Jesus Christ and when you make the decision to welcome His Spirit into your heart, God took away once and for all the old spirit, the dead spirit that is separated from God. Romans 3:23 describes our condition as a helpless condition. That is why God reached out to us at our worst to offer us His goodness. Our spirit’s are renewed and we are a different species than we were before. 2 Corinthians 5:17 declares who you truly are.
Our dedication to God is not based on feelings or emotions; it is based on the decision that we truly want to be close to God. Right now, God is as close as He can ever be to you. He lives inside of you and inside of me. Even if the whole universe disappeared, the you still will be as close to God as possible.
When Jesus left the earth, He said “I am going to my father’s house to prepare a place for you.” What an incredible promise! Jesus even reminded us not to forget His promises. Sometimes we need a reminder to ponder in our hearts and to mediate on the fact that our identity is in him. You no longer live ,but Christ lives in you.
One of the greatest books to study is Colossians. It describes in detail who you really are and Colossians will make you hungry to discover your identity. I’ll put it to you this way: When you choose to accept Jesus, you are so new that you have to let God introduce you to yourself so you can live God’s kind of life and to think God’s kind of thinking. Your mind was not saved when you were born again, your spirit was.
It is your responsibility now to train your mind and to upload the information that is already written for you in God’s word. Treat it like your own and own it so it can become a reality in your life. Once you own the information, you will think in ways you have never thought before and you will be so joyful because of who lives in your heart. People will ask you what has happened to you and this gives you an opportunity for you to let them know through your testimony.
Keep Jesus’s love alive and tell the who world about Him just like Peter did in Acts 2:14-31. Peter shared Jesus’s testimony and what Jesus did for him and who Jesus was. Jesus is all that you need and will ever need. Don’t let your feelings and emotions trap you and keep you from discovering your full potential.
Build your house on the rock. Jesus is the rock. So when the fiercest winds of this world, the ways of man, or even those close to you try to tear you down, they won’t have a chance of shaking your foundation. won’t tear you down. You will stand firm on the rock.
It’s time for you to leave the past behind and see yourself on the other side of the cross into a resurrected and new life.
Is it possible? Absolutely, that is who you truly are. A new person in Christ Jesus.
