When we look around us, it is pretty obvious that this world is looking for a Savior. A Savior that is compassionate, loving, and kind. A Savior who can forgive their wrong doings and not hold anything against them. They want someone who will bring peace to their lives, to be their friend, and to be their companion in life. A person who understands what they are going through.
And that is exactly who Jesus is. Galatians 5:22-23a: But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Jesus completes us and takes care of every need that a man or a woman desires. No one wants to be hurt. No one likes to feel abandoned or insignificant or be left out or ignored. The reason Jesus came is to give us the sense of belonging to a family- God’s family.
We need to open up our hearts to Jesus and let Him take ownership of our lives. Little by little things will begin to change. But they won’t change overnight. Your spirit will become a new person once accept Jesus in your life, but the rest is a process and a journey.
Speaking of a journey, Matthew 28:19, you and I have been assigned to bring about change in this world. In this verse, Jesus said to go to all the world and make disciples. This will be people who will know Him, and through the Holy Spirit, Jesus can disciple them. We are the messengers and Jesus and the Holy Spirit are the teachers.
In our church, there is a couple that has been given an assignment overseas. They are taking their young family out into the mission field. They are living what is comfortable to them and moving somewhere else all because God gave them an assignment. That is the heart of a missionary. A family willing to walk by faith in God’s word to fulfill their journey.
What about you and I? Are we fulfilling our journey? We may not be called to relocate our family to another country, but it starts where you are and eventually moves to something else. Hear God’s heart. Get to know Him more and enjoy the journey He will take you on.
Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that there are plans God has for each one of us. So don’t forget about your assignment. God will speak to your heart and give you direction so you can finish your God given assignment. If you aren’t sure what your assignment is, ask God what he wants you to do and where He needs you to be. Connect the dots so you know it’s God calling for your life. And thank Him for considering you worthy to be saved and to fulfill His plans for your life. Thank you Jesus.
