People all over the world give tribute to the men and women who serve their countries. These men and women obey their oath to serve their country to the letter and will do so even if their very lives are at stake.

Coming from another country, I understand the importance of independence. How patriotic America is!!! Freedom from other countries and persecution. We are given the opportunity to live our lives as we see fit. As Americans, we gather together several times a year to remember those who serve this country and those who gave their lives for the freedom that we have today.

We look at the star spangled banner as a symbol of the United States and as we recite a pledge of allegiance for our great country. There is an amazement in itself, full of innocence, victory, comebacks, sadness, happiness which surrounds every freedom that we have.

As Christians, we celebrate the death and resurrection of the one man who brings us eternal freedom. He died to set all of humanity free from the oppression of the enemy Satan. Jesus Christ defeated the enemy once and for all. As Jesus took His own blood to Heaven as a ransom, all of the captives were set free. This includes every person alive during His time and every person who would ever walk this earth.

Scripture even magnifies God and glorifies Jesus. The Bible gives us an idea of the freedom that was purchased for us through the blood of Christ:

  • One mediator between God and man– Jesus Christ. (1 Timothy 2:5)
  • One man who brought grace and peace to all. (Romans 5:17)
  • One man whose blood redeemed man from sin. (Hebrews 10:18)
  • One man who gives eternal life. (Hebrews 9:12)
  • One man brought peace to man. (Colossians 1:20)
  • One man brought a new covenant and a new way of life free from sin, guilt, oppression, and eternal death. (Hebrews 9:15)

Let’s all give tribute to the one who brought us a new life–Jesus Christ who is Lord over all. His name is the name above every name on the earth and in the Heavens (Philippians 2:9-10). Every knee will bow to His name and I am glad that I have already chosen to bow to this name. How about you? When the end comes, you will be glad that you made the choice to bow. Rejoice in the freedom that Jesus gives you today!

Let’s remember what Jesus has done for us. Also remember those who chose to serve our country. Our hearts go out to every man and woman and every family who has ever lost someone in service to our country. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to you for your selfless service of this country and keeping our families and loved ones safe.

For we all say God bless America and bless all that have served Him faithfully. Amen.
