Growing in Christ is part of our testimony.

We have all made choices that have brought about good to our lives and choices that have not brought good outcomes to our lives. Healthy habits require commitment on our part.

I remember the day I went to the hospital and found out that my blood sugar was 478. I did not know that some of my food choices were contributing to this and the food I was eating was not healthy. Many members of my family suffer from diabetes, but I did not realize how serious the disease is. I did not know that the disease can paralyze a person, make me loose my sight, and have multiple infections. Diabetes makes you loose your energy and over time will kill you if left untreated.

As I was listening to the doctor explain diabetes, he gave me a book to understand the causes of diabetes and how to fix it. The doctor gave me medication to control the symptoms. This happened 16 months ago. As I was going through this situation, I reminded myself that Jesus had already paid for this and I will not receive this disease. I will never call myself diabetic because I know that Jesus has already saved me from it with His blood.

The Holy Spirit has helped me tremendously. He has taught me how to stay away from those pills that were messing with my memory and my health. As I listen to Him, He is slowly helping me reverse this condition by choosing healthy living and exercising. As of today, I can say that I am almost six to seven weeks free from taking any medications and my blood sugar has remained under control.

Whatever you are facing, it is possible that the Lord can help you. Choose healthy habits, healthy relationships, and healthy people to be around. I thank God for my wife who believes the best in me and has helped me overcome the obstacles I face in my life. She is a woman who chooses healthy habits. People who truly know her have a lot to say about her commitment to walk the way the Lord invites all of us to walk with Him.

Here is some advice for all of us from the psalmist who had our best intentions at heart: Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. Psalm 1:1-3.

God has the answer to all of our challenges. We all need to learn to walk in His strength. When we chose to do this, He will sustain us through whatever we face.
