Emotions. They dominate our thought process and they seep into our feelings.
I work in a place where customer service must be at its very best. The job is physical and mental. I have to conquer my thoughts and emotions so that I don’t jeopardize the service I am supposed to give to my customers. Many times I have to take a few minutes to collect my thoughts especially when someone is less than kind. I have to think and be my best when I serve my customers.
Over the years, I have developed many regular customers some of which I will admit are high maintenance and demanding. But I still give them my best because I have developed friendships with most of them and it makes my job easier knowing what they need before I serve them.
Sometimes I have to remind myself that I am one of the best at what I do and that requires high expectations. I do have to admit that at times my hard work and service is
not always appreciated by everyone I serve, but I still push my standards of performance to be the best. From time-to-time it is difficult to please everyone and this is when your feelings and emotions can get the best of you.
When I train people, I offer my 25 years of experience and show them to do what I do. Not everyone will succeed in my line of work, but the ones that do always remember that customer service can pay really well and has its benefits.
When I walk into work, I check my heart to make sure that I am in good standing with the Lord. This always enables me to do more than I can in my own strength. I thank God for the Holy Spirit that helps us in our daily walk. He encourages us to be who we need to be and not to live in our emotions. Chaos and disappointment will only come through our emotions.
We must have our emotions in check and ask ourselves if the outcome will beneficial or a setback in our lives. Thank God for His word and the Holy Spirit strengthen us. The words of Jesus in John 15:26-16:13 are promises for us forever. It is better to rely on the Holy Spirit instead of our emotions.
The enemy is already busy before you start your day trying to distract you. It is in your best interest to prepare yourself for the day ahead by relying on the Holy Spirit’s voice as He speaks to us. Because He will speak to you throughout your day.
