God intervenes in the world.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.   1 Timothy 2:1-4

Praying for others is difficult, especially those who you felt have wronged you. I know in my personal life sometimes I struggle to see others do well because of my flesh. Our flesh says what about me and my personal needs. We say to ourselves “I need this” or “I need that.” I have heard many people make a statement like this: “I need to take care of myself and everyone else can take care of themselves.”

In reality, when a person looks outside of himself to help another person, a blessing is waiting for you bigger than you could ever imagine. The above verses tell us to pray for others. There isn’t a BUT in that verse. It doesn’t say pray for others UNLESS they do you wrong.

We should follow God’s lead in everything that we do.  God is a giver and He gives to us even if we don’t deserve what He gives us. If you and I have a job, a roof over our head, clothing and money to pay for our daily needs, you have much to be thankful for. When was the last time that God said to you that you don’t deserve for Him to help you and look out for you? He never would and He expects us to treat others in this same manner.

Not only does God give us what we need, He gives us love, peace, and joy. Let’s look at Galatians 5:22-25. This passage describes who Jesus is to us:

  • stacking-stones-667432_640.jpgJesus is love– unconditional love.
  • Jesus is joy– He gives this to us in spirit, soul, and body.
  • Jesus is peace– He will guard your heart so nothing evil can enter.
  • Jesus is patient– He never runs out of time or patience.
  • Jesus is kind– He found us at our worst and still showed us love and kindness.
  • Jesus is goodness– He is always working for us to do His will.
  • Jesus is faithful– He never changes His mind. If He says it, He will do it.

These are eternal stones that you can rely on and His faithfulness will never cease. He is always there for us and God wants us to be there for others as well. As followers of Jesus, we should have these same qualities and treat others in the same way.

Next time you are frustrated with someone or you see someone struggle, stop and pray. God is ready to intervene on your behalf and to give them the same love and kindness He shows you everyday.  Call on His name and help give blessings to others.
