Appreciate the little things. Jesus gives us so much.

In many parts of the world, food is limited because of crops, famine, or the population is just too dense for the amount of food that is available.

Take Mexico City for instance, the population is massive and is growing rapidly every day. Families from two to ten children. This doesn’t count the six to ten adults from the previous generation. Many kids end up abandoned and on the street because the pressure is just to overwhelming.

I remember growing up my mom and dad didn’t have much, but they always provided us with some kind of food. We would eat beans and rice four to six times a week and maybe meat once a week. Usually the meat was just a small piece. We were content to eat what we were able to get.

Today, I work as a server in a restaurant where people are quick to complain about their food. Not enough salt, it didn’t taste right, there isn’t enough meat, or it’s not seasoned right are a few of the complaints I often hear. Even if the food took 10-12 minutes to woman-1397009_640come out, they complain that it wasn’t fast enough.

I don’t condone their actions or attitudes and it is not for me to judge. However, it makes me appreciate a meal even more and the person who provides the meal for me.

Because of our sinful nature, we don’t deserve a thing. But because of the grace and mercy of our God and Savior Jesus Christ who has given us everything, we can now enjoy everything. He did all of this just because He loves us.

Next time you think you haven’t been given enough remember:

Next time you don’t think you’ve been given enough, remember everything that you have been given. Jesus is our everything and gives us everything we need. Remember to treat others around you with kindness. Not everyone is as blessed as you are.
