History has a tendency to repeat itself. Earthquakes are still running rampant, famine is found in many parts of the world, and there are still plagues. In the political world, we still see the hunger of man for power and domination. We see a fight for this power in our nation every four years. Someone new comes around who thinks they know best how to run the nation only to find out that there are many challenges and obstacles to being the person in power.
In ancient times, Nero thought he needed to be worshiped. He thought of himself as a god but his empire only lasted a few years. These were crazy years and eventually he himself went crazy. Many of his successors continued on this path and history repeats itself.
Hitler ordered the mass destruction of the Jews and killed anyone who opposed his leadership style. His downfall lead to him taking his own life via poison. Saddam Hussein said in an interview that he wanted to be worship. He even built a statue in his likeness, but his empire only lasted a couple of decades before he was hung for crimes against humanity. Both Hitler and Hussein left a trail of dead bodies behind them in pursuit of power.
Many have come and gone since and have been used mightily by the devil to pursue his path of destruction. Empires rise and fall but we can be assured that Jesus’ empire is
here and will outlast any opposition that we as Christians may face. His government will always be. Notice this is present tense. We can trust in Him and His love.
We have assurance through scripture that this Kingdom is eternal, we have our salvation and Jesus is our King today and forever.
- Jesus is our King and He is our government. Isaiah 9:6
- His Kingdom is everlasting. Psalm 145:13
- His rulership is forever. Luke 1:33
- Jesus’ Kingdom is not of this world. John 18:36
- Righteousness, peace, and joy is the spirit of the Kingdom. Romans 14:17
- Christians live in the Kingdom of Jesus. Colossians 1:13
- This Kingdom cannot be shaken. Hebrews 12:28
- Jesus made us priest to his Father. Revelation 1:6
We are only on this earth temporarily. While on this earth, we will be subjected to many “kingdom” and oppressors. But keep in mind these kingdoms are only temporary. One day we will be together in person with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ forever. His word never changes, His Kingdom is never shaken and He is our King forever.
Rejoice that your name is written in the Lamb’s book of Life. Whatever you are facing will one day be gone. We will forever be with Jesus. Rejoice for that day is coming soon.
