The meekness of Angels shows God’s authority.

Previously we covered that angels are patient. However, this is just one of the many personality traits that angels have. Today we will look at the meekness they possess.

In Jude 9, a story unfolds about how the Arcangel Michael was having a heated discussion with the devil about the body of Moses. (By the way, in case you didn’t already know, all angels have names just like we do.) Instead of continuing the argument and trying to prove he was correct, Michael answered with “the Lord rebuke you.”

Michael only uses the authority that is delegated to him by God the Father. He was sent to take care of business and that business was to take care of the body of Moses. The body was not to be touched.

Angels are bold when they need to be, but they only use the word of God as the ultimate authority. Showing meekness is not the same as being weak, but is enforcing the authority of God the Father. We are given an angel whose assignment is to enforce God’s authority. Angels can enforce this authority through us. They don’t back down.

angelWhile dealing with Lucifer and his demons, Michael says “the Lord rebuke you.” We also have been given authority to rebuke Lucifer and his demons. However, we say in Jesus’s name we rebuke the power of darkness. Because Jesus has delegated His authority to the church, every believer who is born again and has surrendered to the Lordship of Christ has the authority to rebuke Satan.

In his dealings with Lucifer and his demons, Michael is saying that the Lord will punish them for their misdeeds. Michael will wait patiently until this day of punishment to come to pass and Michael didn’t become emotionally involved with the problem.  We too should never get involved with demons, but only speak the name of Jesus and rebuke them through the name of Jesus. The assisting angels will take a stand against them.

Just like Michael used God’s authority to protect the body of Moses, we can also use the name of Jesus to protect our families, ourselves, our businesses and our homes from an attack. The angels assignment today is taking care of Christ’s body which is His church. As we speak, they are protecting us and assisting us as we declare God’s word over our lives and over our bothers and sisters in Christ.

Stay tuned for more on angels.
