Arcangels assist the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Every angel has a specific assignment from God. Angels worship God and do His will when called upon. However, some angels are given very special assignments and act as assistants to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. These angels are called arcangels.

Michael is the arcangel who assists God. He is known as an angel of war and represents the power and mightiness of the Father.  In times past, any time Israel went into battle, Michael was present. As the Father moves through history scripturally, Michael is by His side doing God’s bidding.

Gabriel assists the Holy Spirit and brings messages to mankind. Gabriel bears God’s word to humanity and is sent to the earth to do God’s bidding. When Jesus was born, Gabriel the messenger was sent to deliver the message to Jesus’s earthly parents. The Holy Spirit entrusted Gabriel to announce to Mary that Jesus was coming and who Jesus was. Gabriel also visited Joseph to give him the message that Mary would conceive. Throughout scripture we can find Gabriel delivering messages on behalf of the Holy Spirit.

arcAnother arcangel was assigned to assist Jesus. We know this arcangel as Lucifer. Jesus delegated authority Lucifer to carry out worship in heaven. Isaiah 14:12 tells the story of Lucifer’s rebellion and expulsion from God’s throne room. Lucifer executed his assignments as worship leader until he decided that overthrowing God and taking over His throne would be a better idea.

Jesus never lost His authority, but delegated some of His authority to Lucifer. Because Jesus gave Lucifer authority, Jesus had to be the one to come to the earth as a man to take the authority back from Lucifer. This task could not be done by the Father or by the Holy Spirit.  It had to be Jesus. Because of this, Jesus was born, lived a sinless life, and died a criminal even though He was guiltless.

When Jesus rose again, He took back the authority He had given to Lucifer once and for all. Jesus gave that authority to us, His born-again believers. Now we are the worshipers of the King Jesus. We use His authority to overcome sickness, poverty, and disease over Lucifer and death.

Matthew 28:18 tells us that all authority in Heaven and on the earth is given to Jesus. This authority is crucial so the angels can continue to assist us in our God given purposes.
