As believers, we want to be used by God in the best possible way. We often come to Him for a revelation or a word or even confess what is on our hearts. We are looking for direction, wisdom, and understanding that may improve our way of life.
Today, we will learn how Jesus comforted His followers and how clear His messages were to His followers then and to us now. In John 14, Jesus gave His followers a message that would help carry His disciples to the next chapter in their lives. He gave them assurance, comfort, and a destination.
Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. John 14:1-3
I believe each and every one of these words should be written on every believer’s heart and soul. We need to pay attention to these words and revisit them often because we too easily forget the promise of Jesus. We also forget that Jesus was not of this world.
A few days ago, something amazing happened to me that I wanted to share with everyone. One Sunday morning after having a night filled with various dreams of people being killed or seriously injured almost to the point of death, I woke up in distress

thinking about these poor souls. I knew the spirit of God was trying to give me a message, a message that I had read many times in God’s word, but had not taken the time to meditate on like every believer should.
For the next few days, the words played on my mind and I wept over them. My wife asked if I was alright and I explained to her that the Holy Spirit had given me a message that I needed to write about. I continued to study the book of John which helped confirm the message I was given. I had already read about Jesus preparing a resting place, a safe place for every believer to inherit when we go to be with the Lord. But Jesus laid everything on the table for His disciples and told them exactly what they had to do inherit this resting place with God.
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!” John 14:6
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are the ones given the title “I AM”. However, when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we have access to those same words. I AM a child of God. I AM redeemed. I AM saved.
The message that God wanted me to share is that as believers in Christ, we become new people. The words God spoke will become a light in your spirit and you will be able to see

feel and know that these words mean for the rest of your life. The words that God said are “WE ARE NOT OF THIS WORLD.” Say those words to yourself every day.
John 15:18 reminds us that the world will not be our biggest fans.
If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but YOU ARE NO LONGER PART OF THE WORLD. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you. (Emphasis mine.)
Remember that the Holy Spirit will give you the strength to endure the unreasonable hatred and evil in this world. Remember that Jesus said in John 18:36: “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But MY KINGDOM IS NOT OF THIS WORLD.”
Those words spoken by Jesus have resounded in my spirit over and over. We are part of Jesus’ kingdom and His kingdom in not of this world. Our identity is in Jesus Christ and He is not of this world. Because of these truths, we are not of this world.
Wake up to the reality that you are in God’s Kingdom if you have accepted Jesus. If you have not called up to Jesus, ask Him to come into your heart, forgive your sins, and be the Lord of your life. Do it right now.
If you have confessed that Jesus is Lord of your life, say these words with me. I AM NOT OF THIS WORLD ANY LONGER. Write them on your heart and meditate on them daily.
