The key word here is choice. We have been given the opportunity with the choices that we make to choose the path that will take us in the right direction.
With a new year ahead of you, here are a few thoughts that can help you make the best choices for a new beginning:
- The choice of something better will have a now action.
- God will always give you choices for a better you.
- When you make the right choices, life will begin to open itself up to you.
- Someone who makes better choices will always have followers.
- A choice is given to you daily to choose a healthy mind, hea
lthy heart, healthy spirit, healthy body, healthy habits, and more. - Choices are given to prove to ourselves that there is a better way to live.
- Look at what you’ve been through, see what it could have been, and make a better choice for a new you.
- Making better choices will always bring joy to the heart and mind.
- Choice commands better opportunities to be discovered.
- Be aware that the fruit of the choice you make will have an eternal consequences.
We see an example of how important it is to make good choices when we look a young Solomon, son of David. In 1 Kings 2:1-4, we read about David giving his son Solomon the best advice for making great choices. 1 Kings 2:3 God says: “If your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart and with all their soul, you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.”
The choice of listening to his father’s instruction put Solomon in a position to impress God and Solomon was made king. 1 Kings 2:12: So Solomon sat on the throne of David his father, and his kingdom was firmly established. King Solomon was a prosperous king and well known around the land. This went on for more than 30 years.
Even though Solomon was making good choices at the beginning of his reign and was beloved by the people, he started making poor choices that would eventually cost him his
life. in 1 Kings 11:9, we see that God was displeased because Solomon began to ignore the Lord’s commandments and statures. This resulted in a rebuke of God and the loss of Solomon’s reign as king.
We must remember that when we make up our minds to make the right choices with the right information and the right attitude at the right time, we need to keep that momentum going and stay on course. But if you choose to give up, the result can be even worse than when you started. It is important to ask God for wisdom as Solomon did in the beginning. We can learn from Solomon’s victories and his mistakes.
Make it to the finish line and don’t get sidetracked by anyone or anything. You need to stay in constant fellowship with God by reading His word, praying, and listening to the Holy Spirits advice. You will be so proud of yourself as you make the decision to stay strong and stay on the right path. Is it possible? Absolutely yes. Be determined.
